Job Summary
The Supplier Director is accountable for development and execution of relevant supply category strategy for a CNA function and supplier management activities including consulting, performance trends, issue management, corrective action plans, and process improvements for all assigned supplier categories. This role will manage a team of individual contributors who will oversee suppliers using Performance, Contract, Finance, Risk and Relationship to support a corresponding line of business. The role will have accountability for leading the coordination of moderate to high complexity business requirements and the sourcing negotiation and contracting for new/potential suppliers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Directs the work activities and has full management responsibility for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
2. Leads development of Category Strategy in collaboration with Functional Line of Business by identifying product and service requirements; provides supply market insights to form a short & long term view.
3. Develops the appropriate strategies and levers to apply to procure products and services at the optimal terms and pricing; ensures execution by supplier consultant of identified sourcing strategy and applying the identified sourcing levers through RFPs, soft-market-tests, and other mechanisms.
4. Engages with the Enterprise Procurement Group (EPG) to develop plans for negotiating with suppliers to achieve improved terms and pricing; conducts thorough due diligence of supplier incentives and pain points, assigning roles for the negotiations, level-setting on the desired outcomes, scenario planning, etc.
5. Lead execution of negotiation strategy with supplier consultant and/or EPG. Cooperates with necessary groups to approve and execute contracts according to the agreed upon terms and pricing; this includes but is not limited to Functional Line of business leads, EPG, Legal, IT/Information Security, Business Continuity Planning, and Finance.
6. Develops and manages supplier relationships utilizing five pillars of supplier management including Performance, Contract, Finance, Risk and Relationship.
7. Manages suppliers’ service effectiveness to ensure that related goals and contracted service levels are met or exceeded.
8. Oversees issue management including identifying problems, root cause analysis, securing relevant information, determining solutions, evaluate course of action, and leading the execution of process improvement.
9. Ensures financial oversight including overtime cost, invoice validation and service credit monitoring
10. Identifies and mitigates the enterprise’s exposure to risk through engagement with 3rd parties, including via regular risk tracking, developing contingency and business continuity plans, and tiering supplier according to their risk exposure for the enterprise.
11. Embrace and leads change; acts as a change agent for the part of the business managed.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Thorough knowledge of departmental sourcing practices and procedures as they relate to the organization.
2. Ability to effectively lead, coach and develop the staff.
3. Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical issues in a clear, concise and effective manner to all levels of personnel and outside audiences.
4. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and with personnel at all levels.
5. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems.
6. Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
7. Results oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Education & Experience
1. B.S. in Business or Related Field, MBA preferred.
2. Typically a minimum of ten plus years business professional experience in a purchasing environment. Previous management experience preferred.
