Description
Compensation is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining reward plans and practices, including salary, annual incentive, long-term and other specialized incentive programs. This position is responsible for managing the market intelligence (MI) team which gathers and analyzes market data to ensure executive, management and non-management pay in the US and internationally is competitive. Although the position will manage both the US and international MI processes, the MI work related to international countries converting / converted to the Global Compensation Plan will be the position’s initial focus.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide information and analyses to internal clients to ensure compensation programs align with the business strategy and are market competitive
• Participate in and/or lead the annual review of market data and development of internal market reference ranges (“MRRs”), develop reports, analyze market data, recommend structure / MRR movement including cost analyses for both US and additional countries
• Respond to inquiries regarding plan, policy, job evaluations and market data from Human Resource partners and Compensation Relationship Managers
• Provide project management and subject matter expertise for compensation program implementations
• Maintain / create compensation structures for smaller countries and provide consulting support for larger international businesses
• Partner with International Human Resource Business Partners and Compensation Relationship Managers to implement global compensation processes (e.g., maintenance of global job catalogue and consistent benchmarking)
• Act as a consultant on complex benchmarking issues, new roles/job creation, working with in-country Human Resource Business Partners
• Support the annual compensation process for International Country Heads and annual incentive process compensation reporting for International Division Headquarters Staff
• May lead or participate in special project teams in support of various compensation initiatives
Qualifications
• Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience in preferably in financial services
• Managerial capability: hire, coach, develop and lead high performing staff/teams
• Advanced analytical skills including superior interpretive and reporting capabilities
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to present and clearly explain information to non-technical audiences and leadership
• Concisely articulate the inferences (story) from the data analyses
• Strong risk management and control mindset as work involves highly confidential data
• Detail oriented with strong time management, organizational skills and ability to adapt to frequent change
• Proven ability to effectively juggle multiple priorities and to prioritize day-to-day responsibilities and project related tasks
• Ability to work collaboratively in team environments
• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence
• Compensation relationship management experience, a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite - Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Cognos Reporting (or similar report writing tools); familiarity with HR applications and compensation systems is a plus (e.g., WTW Reward, Workday, Oracle HCM)
• Position is based in Newark, NJ
• Availability for off-hour calls / occasional international travel
