Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.
The US Tax Operations Department is responsible for ensuring that all withholding, documentation and reporting obligations of the Firm are met. This leadership position requires to performing numerous supervisory functions on a daily basis, making decisions, providing guidance, and answering a wide range of complex questions related to tax from our internal business partners. The manager will be required to spend significant time supervising the team, working on the execution of tax strategy and ensuring adherence to tax regulations. They will be required to make various decisions regarding process flows, data analysis and reporting.
The successful candidate will have the ability to operate across number functional areas at the firm, including operations, technology, risk, and tax. The candidate must be risk-focused with an understanding of various types of risk across the organization and client segment, with a strong focus on regulatory & franchise risk, and be charged with monitoring for regulatory compliance risk.
High Level Primary Responsibilities include:
• Oversee, manage and direct a function(s) and process(es) within the Tax Operations division
• Partner and liaise with other members of Tax Operations and other internal divisions on all IRS matters impacting regulatory responsibilities
• Monitor Tax Operational processes and procedures for compliance
• Work closely with the PMO team to implement various system enhancements or coordinate new system project.
• The manager will supervise and manage a team of operations professionals. The manager will be expected to mentor and provide guidance to further develop the team in overall business and tax knowledge and assist them with their professional career growth and development.
• Develop and measure appropriate key performance indicators for the team and drive their improvement

Minimum Requirements
• College degree
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills - Staff management experience
• Strong verbal communication skills dealing with various business and operational units, Internal Revenue Service and vendors.

• Strong PC skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
