Director – QR Product Development and Innovation
Overview
The Global Acceptance and Solutions team is responsible for ensuring merchants of all sizes will continue to play an essential role in the payments ecosystem and in the success of Mastercard. The team works with various internal Mastercard teams including Loyalty Solutions, Enterprise Safety and Solutions, Advisors, among others to help Mastercard gain preference, win deals and bring added value to the relationships with merchants. Together with regional Merchant and Acceptance teams, Operations & Technology and product teams around the globe, the team continues to look beyond current strategies to build our relevance in the marketplace and to expand merchant acceptance. The charter of the group includes navigating new business models, new technologies and new partners that will help Mastercard expand its competitive advantage with merchants, acquirers, Payment Facilitators etc. as well as commercialize and enhance merchant offerings.
The QR product development team is integral to the growth of digital payments and is primarily focused on delivering & scaling new experiences with consumers & merchant using EMVco standards for Merchant and Consumer present QR codes.
The Director – QR Product Development and Innovation, will be responsible for managing the product strategy and implementation plans across various QR products i.e. Merchant Presented QR and Consumer presented QR codes. This would include developing the go-to-market strategies to commercialize the product globally as well as, working in alignment with cross functional teams to deliver on the product requirements to achieve scale.
• Do you have a solid understanding of the merchant acceptance environment in markets, and the various stakeholders in the value chain such as PFs, ISOs, ISVs?
• Can you deal with highly fragmented structures in different markets and map out a user experience that is better for most consumers and merchants?
• Do you have a passion to make a difference in people’s daily lives as they make purchases?
• Can you work in a cross-functional environment with limited support?
• Can you deal with ambiguity, complexity and explain things in simple terms that the novice can understand?
Role
• Develop product requirements based on different market conditions in different regions, and coordinate with platform team(s) to size and develop new product or product features.
• Understand and assess current acceptance practices for QR Code based payments around the world and develop the product roadmap.
• Evaluate use cases, determine potential adoption strategy, including development of appropriate standards
• Identify areas of improvements, assess potential business impacts, and gain agreement with regions/countries on prioritization
• Devise and manage programs to sustain interoperability through standards and grow awareness, usage and adoption with our consumers and partners.
• Introduce new rules and standards as appropriate
• Bring Product Management Excellence (PME) practices in product design and delivery.
• Understand the product roadmaps of consumer devices and advise product teams on product designs that takes into consideration merchant acceptance.
• Advocate for merchants and acquirers/PSPs within Mastercard and communicate how we as a company can better serve the acceptance community
• Contribute to execution of Board endorsed acceptance strategies
All About You
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
• Familiarity of acquirer and merchant operations, especially as it relates to payments
• Strong knowledge of the acceptance channel value chain and players
• Prior experience in developing rules or standards
• Prior experience in organizing and managing global programs
• Highly collaborative individual who can manage relationships across multiple functional areas, geographic locations and career levels
