The American Financial Group (AFG) Accounting department is adding a Senior Accountant to the team. This department is responsible for maintaining the journal entries and general ledgers for AFG and about a dozen other active companies that are outside of our Annuity and Property and Casualty operations. We are seeking a career-minded individual who is motivated to learn from a seasoned team of accounting professionals.
Responsibilities
• Compiles, consolidates and analyzes accounting and finance information for the production of statements, schedules, filings, and reports of a more complex nature.
• Balances and controls data to maintain complete and accurate general ledgers for the accounts or department(s) assigned.
• Analyzes organization financial data for the review and evaluation of existing procedures and operations in assigned area for the purpose of making recommendations regarding improvements.
• Reconciles and adjusts as necessary journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
• Coordinates complex accounting matters and reporting with other departments, locations, divisions and external customers.
• Provides guidance and assistance to lower level positions.
• May lead the work of others (mentor, prioritize, delegate and review assignments).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Field of Study:Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
Experience:4 to 6 years of related experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. Insurance accounting experience preferred.
