Job Description
This position maintains and builds relationships with the existing customer base as well as researches, identifies and cultivates new prospects for the wide range of small business and retail financial products offered by People’s United Bank. Collaborates with Branch Manager and internal business partners to fulfill the financial needs of the customer.
Develops and fosters collaborative relationships with key internal business partners across divisions and product lines to source internal referrals throughout an assigned geographic footprint.
Develops and fosters collaborative and referral relationships with external centers of influence in the marketplace.
Serves as the first point of contact for high-potential clients who are referred from various sources within the company.
Assesses and prioritizes a client’s needs and identifies an internal financial expert to develop initial relationship with client. Maintains a presence in the relationship, as necessary, to ensure the seamless transition of the client to the relationship manager and to ensure the close of the business relationship.
Enhances market awareness of our organization and products through active calling on potential and current customers and participation in business and community organizations.
Assists with the strengthening and retention of existing customer relationships where appropriate.
Build market position by locating, developing, negotiating and closing new business relationships.
Analyze financial data and assess business viability through interview with business owners.
Actively manage a portfolio of loan/deposit customers for engagement and retention/expansion of relationship.
Support portfolio management activities, including the monitoring of past due and high risk loans
Communicate new product developments to existing customer base and prospective clients
Utilize Vertical IQ for prospecting, customer meetings, and value added communications
Cross-sell affinity products, cash management, Merchant Services, Payroll, Wealth Management, PSI, and refer to specific branches retail deposit/loan products to develop business and retail/consumer banking relationships.
Uncover and refer additional business opportunities to business and commercial banking as appropriate.
Serve as a representative of the Bank at community functions and demonstrate a positive image of the Bank for both internal and external customers.
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
Job Requirements

◦ Ability to clearly articulate benefits of and cross-sell a wide range of products.
◦ Superior sales and influencing skills; ability to present ideas in a persuasive manner.
◦ High ethical standards and the ability to protect the bank’s value by keeping information confidential.
◦ Strong leadership, networking, and relationship building skills.
◦ Excellent verbal skills, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills are needed to represent organization to prospective clients and communicate effectively with internal resources.
◦ Strong PC skills needed.
◦ Moderate to heavy travel is required in this position.
College degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
7-10 years of work experience
Preferred skills, NMLS certification & Life License
