POSITION SUMMARY
The Audit Practices Financial Crimes (BSA / AML), OFAC, and Compliance, Vice President
position is a line management role within the Internal Audit for the Americas function. It reports to either a Director, Senior Audit Manager. The position is primarily responsible for MRA and Issue validation across Financial Crimes (BSA / AML), OFAC, and Compliance business areas. This includes supervision of the execution of assigned audits, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and issue tracking and follow-up. The position is responsible for internal stakeholder management and the supervision of and accountability for the quality of and judgment calls in audit work. It is an individual contributor role. Travel is minimum, but may be required approximately 10%
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform as an individual contributor on the assigned issues/MRAs
• Properly onboard, manage and validate in line with Audit Methodology.
• Constantly monitor and contextualize performance and adjust to changing requirements or business priorities in order to achieve the appropriate balance between control and agility required for long-term effectiveness.
• Execute activities to support Issue Management including issue health management, onboarding (issue writing, action plan development, follow up, validation, etc.)
• Identify potential risk, including awareness of risks both within span of control as well as enterprise-wide.
• Assess the state of the governance, risk management, and control environment aspects relevant to that risk.
• Report results in an effective and timely basis, leading to appropriate remedial action and ongoing management of risk.
• Maintain compliance with audit methodology, while also operating within industry best practices, applicable regulations, and internal and external professional practice expectations.
• Effectively manage stakeholder relationships to a mutually accountable, productive, respectful, and trusted level.
• Act as a leader and role model and continuously improve self and department.
• Coordinate with respective IAA teams for efficient and effective risk assessment and audit testing to manage end-to-end risk across the bank.
• Drive reduction of legacy past due and aged issues, timely issue validation, improve issue health (data) management.
• Bring transparency, increased partnership, and consistency across all business lines through all phases of issues lifecycle, including root cause assessment and issue vetting supporting issue documentation, business partnership to ensure action plan development addresses root cause and provides sustainable risk resolution; issue status monitoring and escalation as needed; timely independent issue validation confirming risk remediation.
• Collaborate with respective IAA team(s) on continuous improvement around issue management reporting capabilities as well as be a stakeholder/representative in future IAA system capabilities.
Qualifications
◦ Eight to Ten or more years of internal or external audit or risk management experience, including management responsibility.
◦ Experience within the financial crimes area of a global bank or financial services industry preferred and/or auditing of financial crimes business area.
◦ Knowledge of sanctions compliance laws and regulations.
◦ Knowledge of financial crimes, regulatory compliance, Global OFAC, AML
◦ Experience with the financial industry and related markets, related regulatory bodies, and current industry events and trends.
◦ Deep knowledge of risk assessment, audit methodology, and audit execution with focus on the issue validation process.
◦ Demonstrated proficiency in technology as required for assigned areas (MS Office, audit data analytics, etc.)
◦ Strong analytical and problem solving skills
◦ Strong verbal and written communication skills
◦ Other skills as required in assigned areas of responsibility
◦ Compliant with MUFG Union Bank Code of Conduct, exhibits strong ethical behavior, and adheres to other similar professional requirements
