Summary of Responsibilities:
The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for recording income tax provision and preparing and filing federal and state income tax estimates, extensions, and returns.
Essential Functions:
• Prepares Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures
• Prepares tax-related journal entries and corresponding general ledger reconciliations
• Performs tax calculations for state returns/estimates/extensions
• Manages tax notices - calling taxing authorities to inquire about unclear notices, writing abatement letters as needed, coordinating payment of notices
• Processes federal and state income tax estimates, extensions, and returns
• Coordinates of efforts of external tax advisors and external auditors
• Manages audits from taxing authorities
• Monitors of the Company’s transfer pricing policies and related documentation
Other Functions:
• Special projects and tax research
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of degree
• CPA eligible
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience required
• Financial Services, Corporate Tax, and Big Four experience preferred
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Proficiency in accounting for income taxes (FAS 109, FIN 48)
• Time management skills with strong attention to details; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet assigned project deadlines in a timely manner
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, problem solving, and negotiation skills
• Ability to think independently
• Self-driven personality
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt and operate within a dynamic and rapidly changing business environment
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
Working Conditions:
• Extended working hours may be required as dictated by management and business needs.
• Travel to multiple facilities may be required.
• May be required to lift, push, or pull materials weighing up to twenty (20) pounds.
• May be required to sit and review information on a computer screen for long periods of time
• May require repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard
