The Role
The Director, Agile Delivery will provide leadership and direction to a team of scrum masters within the Group Protection Dover location at Lincoln to ensure results and to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated complex bodies of work ensuring that goals or objectives of those efforts are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. This position will drive transformational change for Group Protection efforts at Lincoln and its technology partners in alignment with the Enterprise Agile Transformation team. S/he will drive best practice standards and practices for scrum masters.

Leadership
• This positon will lead a team of scrum masters that will be responsible for delivery of Group Protection implementations and efforts across Lincoln.
• Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Directs and provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility for scrum masters.
• Provides direction to scrum masters to ensure projects for his/her assigned area(s) group(s) meet quality, schedule, milestone, and budget commitments.
• Drives transformational change for departmental integration and agile delivery and identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements to align with agile best practices that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the department for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Provides subject matter expertise to scrum master and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility, especially as it pertains to agile best practices.
• Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments for scrum masters giving honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
• Directs and evaluates individual performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Execution
• Maintains knowledge on current and emerging agile developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
• Establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility for scrum masters.
• Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Drives & provides direction & mentoring on complex projects &/or programs to ensure required outcomes.
• Drives, develops & delivers complex programs as needed.
• Clearly and effectively delivers concise program status to executive stakeholders
• Leads & rectifies inefficiencies and acts as body of work recovery resource as needed for scrum masters.
• Provides direction & ensures program plans align and support the operational plans for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility and are aligned with LFG's overall business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives.
• May provide input to executive management and business stakeholders on the prioritization of active and pending projects for his/her area(s) of responsibility.
• Identifies opportunities to proactively mentor business or project stakeholders of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility in completing complex bodies of work.
• Develops and communicates reporting metrics and/or program dashboards that provide management and business stakeholders with quantifiable gauges of the delivery of business results.
• Develops and administers the departmental budget for his/her area(s) of responsibility; manages these budgets within expense goals.
• Analyzes assigned complex bodies of work to validate if outcomes will meet the business needs and align/support operational plans/objectives. Recommends complex mitigation plans.
Education
• 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors) (Minimum Required)
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
• Additional agile / project management certification preferred, but not required
Experience
• 7+ Years of experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 5 years of agile delivery experience including scrum master role and 3 years of experience in program/portfolio delivery, resource planning, reporting, and prioritization
• 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience, including management of Scrum Masters(Required)
• Scrum background - in depth Agile understanding as well as Waterfall
• Strong executive delivery/presence
• Program Governance experience
• Risk Assessment background
• Experience working with Scrum Team required and Kanban teams preferred but not required.
• Experience communicating with senior and executive business and IT stakeholders concerning delivery status.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully hire, retain, develop and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills including the ability to coordinate and balance multiple bodies of work in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
