Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk Review and Challenge, responsible for executing the second line of defense third-party risk management (“TPRM”) review and challenge program across all MUFG US business lines and legal entities.
Major Responsibilities:
• Execution of a risk-based review and challenge work program to ensure that business lines and corporate functions have developed sufficient processes and controls for the management of risks associated with third parties throughout the full life-cycle of the relationship (planning, due diligence, contract execution, transition execution, ongoing monitoring and termination of the relationship) in accordance with our program requirements. The program includes review of affiliate providers and those managed through alternate practices
• Work with other subject matter experts within the second line of defense (e.g. Information Risk Management, Business Continuity and Compliance) in coordinating and executing on the above requirements.
• Develop and maintain procedures, templates and tools for the execution of the review and challenge program, keeping pace with any changes in program requirements. Ensure the results of all work performed is documented in accordance with pre-defined standards and is ready for independent review upon request. Implement an efficient quality assurance program within the team to insure the same.
• Perform analysis and identify root causes of where program requirements are not being met. Work with the second line of defense TPRM policy, program and training / communication teams and business lines to address those issues, measuring and tracking progress in remediation.
• Development and production of timely and insightful monthly and/or quarterly reports that provide business lines and executive management a consolidated view of adherence to third party risk management program requirements.
• Provide support for the planning of, and participate in, periodic review and challenge activities with other peer business aligned Operational Risk Review and Challenge teams and Business Units to discuss the output of third party risk management review and challenge activities.
• Participate as the TPRM subject matter expert in evaluating new, modified or expanded products and services or other change initiatives.
• Stay abreast of industry developments in third-party risk management to ensure the review and challenge program accounts for new practices.
• Support initiatives periodically assigned by the Head of Operational Risk Review and Challenge team or the Head of Third-Party Risk Management.
Qualifications
• 10-12+ years’ experience in operational risk management, internal audit, management consulting or related field, including 5 or more years work related to third-party risk management.
• Experience in control testing techniques and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of operational and third party risk regulatory requirements and industry practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage workloads and prioritize deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Broad view of the financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of third-party risk management regulatory expectations.
• Expertise in control testing techniques and documentation.
• Strong ability to analyze data and trends and prepare meaningful reports.
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with Third Party Managers, Business Line Managers and Business Unit Risk and Control Officers within the first line of defense, as well as various subject matter experts.
• Strong oral / written communication skills.
• Comfortable presenting the programs approach and results to all levels of personnel within the Company.
• Able to build relationships with people at all levels.
• Able to influence and galvanize support of others.
• Builds rapport and trust among stakeholders.
• Strong management skills - providing training and coaching to help the team meet its objectives, and supporting team members to grow and advance their careers.
• Experience in working with regulators and auditors.
