Basic Purpose:
The Distribution Data Science Director will be central to delivering the insights and recommendations to senior sales and marketing leadership needed to identify predictors of successful sales and marketing outcomes, drive effective engagement with customers and accelerate sales lifecycles. This role will lead the development and evolution of analytical models, performance metrics and best practices. Partnership with senior business stakeholders will lead to optimization of execution and refinement of our strategy.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Expand our current analytic capabilities and architect new strategies and applications within a dynamic innovative distribution organization.
• Help distribution management transform their marketing and sales strategies by applying advanced analytics to generate value-creating insights from big data.
• Conduct deep analytics on a broad set of client and external data and play a lead role in team problem solving through findings and insights from that analysis.
• Use advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and evaluation science to mine structured and unstructured data to identify key drivers of sales and marketing success
• Distill business requirements to define scope and functionality/capability for enterprise analytics projects
• Utilizes a data-driven approach to inform decision-making, analyze data solutions/data governance performance and reliability, and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
• Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, establish priorities, and own deliverables end to end
• Help solve new and existing challenges to sales & marketing effectiveness
• Develop visualizations to share analysis and insights across a large group of business users
• Lead the development and evolution of analytical models, key metrics, best practices, and test plans
• Develop requirements and process for effective client segmentation across the different sales channels, including intermediary and institutional clients and centers of influence.
• Team management: Supervise a diverse team, partner effectively with Distribution Administration teams, Sales Management, IT, Operations and Finance.
• Work with IT teams to support data collection, integration, and retention requirements
• Identify what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, and leverage new data collection processes.
• Define data quality expectations for distribution data initiatives
• Collaborate with IT and Finance on tool development, data organization, and data collection to ensure corporate protocols are consistent.
Job Requirements:
• Strong understanding of the asset management distribution process and client segmentation
• Undergraduate or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (i.e. Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research)
• Strong academic qualifications, including advanced understanding/coursework in database management and math (Linear, Algebra, Calculus)
• 2-9 years of hands-on work experience developing and applying predictive models and other advanced statistical approaches in a corporate or consulting setting, preferably in a marketing and sales context
• Proficiency in statistical data analysis and data mining packages
• Advanced knowledge of data management tools including SQL/RDBMS, NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB), Hadoop and/or other big data technologies
• Advanced programming skills in at least one of Java, Python, R, C++, C#, etc.
• Experience linking multiple data platforms and with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
• Experience with digital analytics
• Intellectual curiosity, along with excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
• Ability to independently own database development and decisions, balancing demands and deadlines
• Distinctive communications skills and ability to communicate technical content in an easy to understand way
• Strong people skills, team-orientation, and a professional attitude
