Vice President, Strategic Engagement
Overview:
The Center for Inclusive Growth is the philanthropic hub at Mastercard. The organization seeks to ensure that the benefits of an expanding economy accrue to all segments of society. Through research, data philanthropy, programs and strategic engagement, the Center addresses the dual challenges of income and information inequality to advance equitable and sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion around the world. The Center’s work is at the heart of Mastercard’s objective to be a force for good in the world.
The Vice President for Strategic Engagement is responsible for the Center's efforts to build and nurture a community of stakeholders on the front lines of inclusive growth, supporting the organization’s goal to be a leading private sector voice and resource on inclusive growth. The team s/he leads is responsible for creating and publishing content on digital channels (email, web site, social media, etc.) and forging partnerships with private, public, NGO and academic institutions to engage global thought leaders on our work. Finally, the team works with Mastercard Marketing and Communications to raise the visibility of the Center’s work among key stakeholders, including Mastercard employees and the media.
Role:
• Develops and directs overarching external and internal engagement strategy for the Center, including: stakeholder mapping; relationship management; producing high-quality events; digital, social and traditional media; content creation and dissemination
• Collaborates with Center leadership to maximize alignment among research, data philanthropy, programs and engagement teams
• Oversees and executes activation and rollout plans in support of programmatic efforts, partnerships, and thought leadership initiatives
• Works collaboratively with corporate communications team to identify story angles and develop targeted influencer lists
• Works collaboratively with marketing to develop and deploy brand building strategies
• Measures impact of engagement efforts to build scale and identify opportunities for greater efficiencies
• Delivers data and insights derived from media and social analysis that convey trends and attitudes of influencers about the Center, the industry and competitors
• Informs creators of corporate thought leadership in the development of original content, specifically focusing inclusive growth
• Leads cross-functional team to integrate Center activities and efforts into broader Mastercard efforts
• Supervises a team and ensures compliance with goal-setting and performance appraisal processes
• Identifies and coaches top talent within team
All about You:
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to both internal and external audiences
• Extensive experience in owning and independently managing multiple investments and campaigns designed to meet business goals
• Proven track record of executing speaking engagements and creating core content
• Ability to communicate compelling value propositions to important audiences
• Success building relationships with global multi-cultural teams
• Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships with external stakeholders
• Capable of leading and marshalling resources for cross-organizational initiatives, such as professional development opportunities, ideation efforts and corporate social responsibility (CSR)
• Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to operate in a corporate environment
• Solid understanding of stakeholders (e.g. businesses, universities, research institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and foundations)
• Creative thinker possessing high level of comfort with fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization
• Combination of both private and public sector experience preferred
• History of coalition-building and organizing
• Advanced degree preferred
