The Role
The Allstate Roadside Services Technology organization is seeking an experience information analyst with 8-10 years of hands-on experience to evolve the ARS Strategic Data Warehouse to be the single source of truth for business metrics.
The Information Analyst will analyze department and product-level business objectives and provide guidance on the appropriate place to source existing data for analysis purposes and/or lead the development of new data elements, if they don’t exist.
This position will translate business metric definitions into technical definitions and develop and manage the logical and physical views of data.
The position will also be responsible for building and growing the team’s competency and capabilities with respect to Data Quality, Data Governance, and Data Modeling.
They should instill Allstate and industry data warehousing development best practices and standards within the team, by leveraging available people, process and technologies.
Responsibilities
Information/Data Analysis
• Lead, plan and consult on information gathering sessions with data stewards and users to help them define business metric definitions and metadata that are complete and unambiguous.
• Create the technical requirements based on business definition to create the lineage and transformation rules from source to target.
Data Modeling
• Create and maintain complex logical (conceptual, relational, subject-level and dimensional) data models and other metadata deliverables at multiple levels of detail and functionality across business subject areas.
Development / Design
• Construct and execute complex SQL queries and leverage data profiling tools to verify business data rules and fit-for-use status of data under analysis.
• Triage data quality and production issues
Planning and Processes
• Develop tools and processes required to help drive data management processes.
Job Qualifications
Must Have:
• 8-10 years of experience working in a business-facing environment, preferably in a Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing capacity.
• 3-5 years working in a Fact-Dimensional Data Warehouse environment
• 3-5 years of hands-on with ETL tools and teams
• Strong hands-on experience with data mapping and/or SQL
• Solid understanding of Unix
• Ability to work in a fast-paced development organization
• Ability to work with teams distributed globally
• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication
• High initiative in working through difficult problems and obstacles
• Ability to create strong working relationships with business partners
Nice to Have:
• 3-5 years of Ab Initio development experience
• 1 year of hands-on Hadoop experience
