Baker Tilly seeks an articulate, high-energy, personable, organized, highly-motivated individual to fill a Business Development Associate opportunity in our Tysons Corner, VA office. This position reports to the Privacy/Cybersecurity Practice Leader. The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with a working knowledge of social media. The ideal candidate will have experience in sales/business development and marketing services.

Responsibilities
The basic function of the Business Development/Marketing Associate is to provide sales and business development support to the Privacy and/or Cybersecurity teams. The daily responsibilities include conducting prospect research; initial prospect outreach via email, letter, or telephone; sales pipeline management; and following up on marketing campaigns and events. This position will maintain and update a prospect database (Salesforce) related to these activities and results. She/he will work closely with the Practice Leader, Team Leaders/Partners and Marketing Manager to fill the sales funnel and facilitate the smooth transition between initial prospect to client customer.
• Growing and managing a high volume sales pipeline
• Track prospect contact and sales conversion analytics
• Explain Baker Tilly services to potential customers
• Handle prospect questions and objections
• Creation of target lists - through research, obtain prospect information including names and addresses and other contact information
• Schedule appointments for Practice Leader, Team Leaders/Partners to meet prospective customers
• Follow-up on marketing campaigns or events via phone or e-mail
• Attend networking events
• Directs channel development activity to appropriate team leaders for additional follow up
• Is able to work with Baker Tilly staff to analyze target areas of interest for development and effectively prioritize and plan the best approach to the market area
• Works to further develop existing client relationships for other service areas
• Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
• Gather competitive intelligence and knowledge surrounding industry trends, shares insights with client services, marketing and sales
• Promote to the identified audiences on the full range of Baker Tilly service offerings while in the development process
Qualifications
• Two to Five years of prior sales or business development experience required
• Experience selling privacy or cybersecurity services to middle market client preferred
• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM system preferred
• Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong follow-up skills required
• Able to attend occasional after hour networking events
• Able to lead and direct his/her own work
• Ability to travel 50-75% as needed
