General Qualifications:
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in business related field with emphasis in management, accounting, finance or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• All candidates must have superior verbal, written and organizational skills and possess an understanding of business and personal financial statements.

Functions
Equity Underwriter Responsibilities:
Ensures effective communication between Originators, Processors and Closer’s to address, resolve, and improve file quality and customer experience.
Responds to e-mails and phone calls from internal and external customers within a reasonable amount of time
Review of income, asset, and credit documentation to make a sound credit decision according to program guidelines
Knowledgeable in reviewing Trans Union, Equifax and Experian credit report and analysis of information and histories.
Identifying Red Flags, Fraud Detection, and mitigating risk
Demonstrate a strong ability to analyze and calculate income. Types of Income include but are not limited to self-employed, rental, salaried, bonus, overtime, commission, social security income, Pension income, IRA income. Strong knowledge of federal tax returns and self-employed tax returns, 1120s, 1120, 1065, and K1s, complete a FNMA 1084 cash flow and or an Income calculation worksheet.
Determines appropriate structure and pricing based on the borrower type, credit score, quality factor assignment, collateral, and risk and documenting any deviations from the prescribed structure.
Knowledge and ability to manually underwrite request and assesses strengths and weaknesses of loan request based on BBVA Credit Standards.
Clear understanding of Debt to Income and Loan to Value ratios and calculations
Developing and Issuing loan decisions including Counter Offer scenarios, Approvals and Declines
Ability to meet monthly production requirements
High Production with attention to quality, Team Player and the ability to multi-task
Maintain an acceptable quality level, keeping errors at a minimum.
