Job Summary:
This position will originate and lead the execution of new business opportunities in the Leasing & Asset Finance group (“L&AF”) through marketing activities directed towards clients and prospects of certain defined coverage areas within the MUFG Wholesale Banking platform to enhance MUFG product penetration; will have responsibility for the evaluation of the client’s financing needs and objectives, recommendation of the appropriate financial solution for large ticket leasing and asset finance business, and transaction execution; and will maximize new business generation to enhance MUFG’s client relationships and meet/exceed L&AF’s financial objectives.
Major Responsibilities:
Business Origination
• Assist with marketing activities, identifying and sourcing leasing opportunities that conform to MUFG’s business strategy and credit policies
• Lead or assist with new secured transaction originations
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with Wholesale Banking staff and provide consistent and comprehensive product coverage to their customers
• Collaborate with Senior Officers to establish dialogue and foster direct relationships with MUFG clients and prospects that have been identified as candidates for L&AF
• Coordination and collaboration with internal client coverage teams
• Develop an expert level of knowledge in L&AF products
Transaction Identification
• Conduct analysis and due diligence on new business opportunities
• Develop a strong understanding of the clients’ financial goals and objectives
• Assist with the recommendation of financial solutions that are appropriate for clients
• Understand market dynamics and competitive landscape to appropriately structure and price a lease proposal.
Transaction Management
• Lead and/or assist with the management of all aspects of transactions through closing.
• Lead and/or assist with deal structuring and internal screening
• Lead and/ or assist with client negotiation
• Internal approvals (credit, legal, accounting, new products, etc.)
Other
• Perform related duties and participate in special projects as required
• Ensure all activities are in compliance with L&AF and MUFG policies and procedures
Qualifications
We Require:
• Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree will be a decisive asset
• 5-10 years relevant experience in wholesale banking, leasing and/or structured finance
• Sound knowledge of finance, accounting, and the leasing and asset finance market
• Strong and proven risk management skills (transaction due diligence and structuring skills)
• Ability to contribute to transaction execution both internally and externally (with clients and key industry participants)
• Ability to think critically, solve problems, make decisions, and build trust across the organization
• Negotiation skills with respect to transaction structure and documentation of loans, leases, partnership transactions, etc.
• Corporate finance professional with strong marketing, communications and analytical experience
• Ability to self-manage, develop marketing initiatives, travel and meet directly with clients
• Series 7/79 & 63 a plus (can be licensed through MUFG)
