Position Summary
Under moderate supervision, performs clerical and administrative activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs general clerical and office duties, including answering phones, filing, copying/imaging, faxing, processing and distributing mail and preparing items for destruction. Orders supplies and schedules/coordinates meetings. Greets and directs visitors to appropriate personnel.
Enters and proofreads correspondence, forms and related materials, and transcribes dictation and statements. Generates, sorts and distributes automated form letters.
Responds to inquiries from customers, including but not limited to, adjusters, Policyholders, Agents, independent adjusters and claimants and/or refers to others as required. Handles all inquires with customer service as a priority.
Assists claims personnel with various activities, as required, including accessing and verifying Policyholder information, providing other information, completing paperwork and preparing file jackets and entering loss reports and/or claims information into the claims management system. Maintains diary systems of open claim files as required.
Enters/issues checks and related information, and completes daily balancing and batching activities as required.
Mentors and trains less experienced staff as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Education Equivalents
Associate's degree in business or related field; or
High School Diploma or GED and two years clerical or office experience, required.
Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute and 90 net data entry keystrokes per minute preferred. Completion of LOMASelect tests required. Passing score on LOMA Select tests required. Working knowledge of word processing software required. Experience in the insurance industry preferred. Completion or active pursuit of insurance education, such as the Program in General Insurance (INS 21, 22, 23) or INTRO courses, preferred. Valid driver's license preferred.
All Employees with a telecommuting arrangement in which they consistently work remotely during part, or all, of their work schedule must have in their regular remote work location, access to business class internet service providing 3 megabytes (3 MBs) or more of bandwidth. For this purpose, business class internet means internet service with a static IP address, dedicated connections and guarantees or service level agreements (SLAs) addressing relevant performance characteristics. The internet service bandwidth requirement is subject to revision from time to time based on the requirements of ERIE’s systems.
