POSITION OBJECTIVE: (Basic Purpose of Position)
The Director of Sales, Corporate Travel oversees the sales team which is responsible for generation of new sales of Corporate Travel in the ACA territory. This role includes developing and implementing the sales strategy, establishing performance measurements, and leading the team to achieve or exceed annual quota. Target accounts will be small and mid-market accounts that spend between $200K and $12m in annual air volume.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)
• Drive results to achieve ACA Corporate Travel strategic and operational goals.
• Proactively manage and support the sales team to achieve their sales quotas.
• Represent leadership in prospect meetings and presentations.
• Establish a strong market presence for AAA Corporate Travel.
• Evaluate emerging market trends, customer requirements and competitor activity.
• Define and drive sales process and execution.
• Accountable for pipeline reporting, analysis, and sales team performance management.
• Effectively coach the team through the sales process to include qualification of prospects, discovery, proposal and pricing, presentation, negotiation and closing strategies.
• Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field strongly preferred; experience in lieu of degree may be considered
• 10+ years of sales experience in the travel industry, preferably corporate travel.
• 5+ years management or leadership experience; travel sales management experience strongly preferred.
• Extensive direct selling experience with executives, procurement, and finance professionals; as well as, corporate travel managers.
• Proven experience in hiring successful salespeople, coaching and developing, and performance management
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary for competent performance of the job)
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, negotiation, presentation).
• Demonstrated success in developing and delivering presentations.
• Proven track record in sales negotiations and closing skills
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Effective leadership, coaching and development skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strategic thinking
• Strong working knowledge and advanced skills in the Microsoft Suite Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
• Proven track record of success leading a sales team to profitable results for the business.
• Demonstrated success in closing corporate accounts and exceeding quota.
• Proven ability to interface with senior levels of prospect/client companies.
• Exceptional presentation and negotiation skills.
• Strong business and financial acumen.
WORKING CONDITIONS (Under typical circumstances)
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting, air conditioning, heating, and normal range of noise level.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking and/or standing; minimal lifting and/or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
Travel is a requirement for this position to visit with direct reports, prospects, internal and external meetings. Travel 30%+.
