Business Analyst/Project Manager, Vice President
Job Description:
• As a member of the BAAM technology team, the BA/PM is mainly responsible for managing business critical development projects from inception (scope definition) to deployment (post-production support) involving the department’s proprietary applications and interfacing 3rd party systems.
• Additional responsibilities include facilitating ongoing enhancements to existing tools as requested by the user community
• Project management responsibilities include
◦ Scope and Project Plan definition and management
◦ Meeting and discussion facilitation with users and other tech team members
◦ Project status reporting to management, stakeholders, and users
• Business Analyst responsibilities include
◦ Articulating business requirements to the technology and UX teams
◦ Facilitating UX and detailed requirement reviews with users to obtain agreement
◦ Producing documentation: “As Is” and “To Be” workflows, Business Requirements, specifications for development
◦ Transitioning requirements to QA team for test preparation and QA/regression testing activities
◦ Conducting user acceptance testing as well as user training
• Participate on an “as needed” basis for various production support issue related to recently launched projects
Qualifications:
Experience/Background Required
• QA testing - direct experience/involvement
• 3+ years of business analyst experience
• 2+ years of project management experience – including full end to end project life cycles
• 5+ years employed within the finance or technology related industry
• BS degree in business, finance or engineering/technology
Experience/Background Preferred
• BS degree in engineering or technology-related curriculum
• Experience with direct trading or portfolio risk analytics systems/platforms
• Experience with back office accounting and order management systems (e.g. Geneva, Charles River)
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Basic investment banking knowledge
• Communication skills
◦ Verbal – able to communicate and relate to both business and technical co-workers
◦ Written – ability to author documentation appropriate for a range of audiences: the user community, development team, as well as upper management
• Meeting and discussion facilitation – ability to organize, schedule, and conduct productive meetings with purpose and relevant value
◦ Project scope definition
◦ Workflow and business process changes
• Scope management - ability to clearly define project scope; manage and communicate scope changes
• Time and Task management – Ability to manage multiple priorities and raise issues in a timely and productive fashion
• Must be detailed oriented, organized, and self sufficient
• Tools: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Visio (or equivalent)
Knowledge and Skills Preferred, but not required
• Basic SQL
• Market Data Services (e.g. Markit, Bloomberg)
• Python
