This position sits in our National Employee Benefits Marketing Team and reports to our Vice President of Marketing. The purpose of this role is to manage proposal response efforts from beginning to end by creating highly competitive, winning proposals.
The Proposal Manager will be instrumental in creating highly competitive, winning proposals by working closely with HUB International team members to formulate our proposal strategy, gather and format information, write drafts, obtain approvals, and submit the official response.
This role will use a variety of resources to accomplish these tasks, including product expert interviews, marketing and sales collateral, proposal templates, past proposals, proposal libraries and other available resources. The proposal writer will work closely with sales consultants who are key team members responsible for delivering the commitments outlined in the response.

Responsibilities:
• Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of HUB International services.
• Help lead strategy discussions and work with internal subject matter experts (SME), sales team and executives to develop a winning approach for each opportunity, leading team through the proposal process start to finish.
• Review RFP submission requirements, create timelines and ensure all project deadlines are met.
• Research, write, rewrite and edit materials for document development within proposals, supplying tailored boilerplate/templates and/or writing new answers based on SME interviews to questions as needed.
• Manage multiple proposals simultaneously.
• Participate in individual and group proposal reviews with senior leadership and other key individuals; incorporate changes and improvements to proposals.
• Monitor, track, and report out to senior staff proposal submissions, wins and losses.
• Proactively review, revise, and improve proposal communication processes, workflows, and deliverables.
• Evaluate and summarize strengths and weaknesses of competitor proposals when available.
• Develop, organize and maintain content library.
• Contribute to department special projects such as reviewing and updating sales collaterals, marketing campaign materials, completing ad hoc requests and help develop departmental documents (style guides, proposal management tools, etc.).
• Build a business case for proposal team growth and long-term proposal strategy.
Basic Qualifications:
• APMP Certification (highly desirable)
• Employee Benefits or Insurance Experience (highly desirable)
• 5+ years of experience writing business proposals for professional services opportunities
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of the proposal process end-to-end
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Writing style is engaging and effective at communicating key points
• Flexibility to respond quickly to changing specifications and requirements
• Skilled at communicating complex technical concepts in an easy to understand manner
• Expert Microsoft Word skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Exquisite attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to work independently while meeting all deadlines
