Position Summary
Responsible for the accounting of the Equipment Finance Division (EFD) division. Primary responsibilities include completing the monthly close process. Preparing reports for the monthly, quarterly and end-of year reporting. Preparing schedules for the Bank of the West's GAAP-based annual report. Will be responsible for the financial accounting control infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
1. Ensures the daily/monthly accounting for the EFD division is GAAP/IFRS compliant.
2. Prepares manual journal entries, account reconciliations, certifications and suspense accounts reconciliations to ensure proper recording and tracking of all transactions.
3. Maintains documentation to ensure all process are fully documented and in compliance with internal, external and regulatory requirements.
4. Prepares accounting reports to support the regulatory and financial statements of the bank.
5. Will be responsible for preparing reconciliations between system of record and the corporate GL.
6. Identifies opportunities to streamline the EFD accounting activities and make them a seamless part of operations.
7. Participates in system enhancements and upgrades to ensure accounting is GAAP/IFRS compliant.
8. Researches accounting questions, trends, significant changes and reports them to the EFD Accounting Manager.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance - Required
• Master’s/Advanced Degree- Preferred
• Required License(s) or Certifications in CPA/CFA- Preferred
• Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
• Requires 5 years minimum prior relevant experience.
• Understanding of GAAP
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, General Ledger Systems
• Excellent communication skills; both written and orally
