Job Description
The Board Relations and Corporate Governance function is responsible for managing the Corporate Governance matters for the firm and for maintaining business relationships with the various Boards governing the investment products managed by the firm. This team member will work across the organization to coordinate support for the boards and prepare materials.
Role:
• Serve as management liaison to several product and corporate boards, attending board meetings to ensure the meetings run smoothly
• Coordinate, research, draft and/or otherwise prepare product and other business related proposals for Board approvals
• Work closely with Product Managers, Product Development, Product Implementation, Legal and others to prepare for meetings, coordinate timelines and obtain Board approval of product changes and launches
• Prepare other information for board meetings on fund related topics, including performance, fees, new product launches, etc.
• Determine the ad hoc communication strategy; prepare and distribute materials as needed
• Participate in the mutual fund contract renewal process for the Advisors and Distributor through cross-functional coordination and strategy setting
• Assist in the portfolio management and executive preparation process prior to each meeting, focusing on critical business items going before each Board
• Support Board review and approval of vendor agreements, including Transfer Agent renewal
• Write and review board materials for consistency and accuracy
• Develop and manage agenda for special meetings, including determining topics and coordinating presentations
• Review Board minutes to assure they accurately reflect proposals made and information provided to the Boards
• Represent the Board Relations and Corporate Governance dept on corporate committees and at internal meetings, as needed
Qualifications
• BA/BS required; Strong educational background
• Excellent writing skills are a must
• 3-5+ years of experience, focused on mutual funds, investment management, product management or similar roles
• Extremely detail oriented
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Solid project management ability
• Ability to take initiative and to work with all levels of the organization
• Highly proficient with PowerPoint, Excel and Word; Morningstar Direct experience a plus
