Position Summary:
• Oversee a team of accounting professionals responsible for supporting accounting operation functions related to advances, reconciliations, data validation, revenue, conversions, valuation and /or reserves. Functional duties include managing preparation of analytics, calculations and estimates, reviewing journal entries and reconciling large-scale general ledger accounts, updating and maintaining reports, analysis templates and tools, providing data in support of monthly reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness within month-end timeframe; responding to internal and external inquiries and a variety of tasks to support servicing transactions, developing recommendations for control procedures to ensure compliance with SOX.
• This role will collaborate with the Controller’s team and various departments, including Valuation Analytics, Investor Reporting, Servicing, IT and/or Client Management. The position may also be responsible for training and mentoring others, identifying areas for improvement, gathering accounting requirements, coordinating testing efforts, documenting procedures, identifying areas of risk and controls, and administering a change control process for the team.

Essential Functions/Specific Duties:
• Responsible for understanding various business processes and recoverability guidelines to ensure related activity or recovery is properly reflected in the ledger
• Ability to independently identify problem areas, sift through multiple data sources, develop a sound analytical framework, and present results to senior management
• Prepare monthly analytics relative to prior periods, business plan and forecast including consideration of any key business drivers
• Review account reconciliations and journal entries for key balance sheet accounts and oversee resolution of reconciling items
• Communicate with parties inside the Company to resolve general ledger discrepancies in accordance with servicing guidelines and company policies
• Complete key monthly close entries in alignment with a 5 day month end close cycle
• Prepare GAAP and cash based financial reporting for controllership and business management
• Document and track data issues and build/identify robust reporting to help mitigate risk and identify business opportunities for future system enhancements
• Oversee preparation of supporting schedules for quarterly earnings releases and presentations
• Manage preparation of quarterly/annual supporting documentation for footnote disclosures
• Lead preparation of supporting documentation for external quarterly reviews and year-end audit
• Strategically plan for and oversee department staff including mentoring, hiring, training, development, monitoring, and evaluating employees.
• Apply change management techniques to Identify opportunities for process improvement, strengthening of controls and efficiencies to mitigate operational risk
• Special projects and ad hoc reporting requests as assigned
• Position will have opportunities to train and mentor others.
Qualifications/Job Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience:
◦ CPA certification preferred
◦ Knowledge of GAAP accounting and SOX control requirements
◦ Knowledge of mortgage servicing practices and processes or mortgage industry experience preferred
◦ 5-8 years of Accounting or Finance experience
◦ Previous experience with Fannie Mae portfolios and experience with MSP/LPS a plus
• Skills
◦ Excellent analytical, accounting and financial skills
◦ Advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, advanced formulas and data query tools
◦ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with and make presentations to employees at all levels within organization as well as external contacts
• Competencies:
◦ Strong leadership skills with ability to develop and motivate others
◦ Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively in a variety of situations
