Our Information Technology Organization is seeking an IT Director to join our Commercial Lines IT Team in our Worcester, MA office.
Position Summary:
The IT Director provides strategic leadership in creating and implementing programs and processes while leading IT operational areas; may assist AVP/VP in strategy formulation, but primarily focuses on the execution of set operational and service strategies. Oversees a primary functional area; increasing accountability, ownership and scope. Helps to develop and subsequently implement new projects, policies and procedures for the department(s) to meet broad, but specific goals as required. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect functional area of responsibility.
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Partners with the Delivery Lead for operational planning, estimating, tracking, management of risk, portfolio finances, reporting and business communications
•They establish collaborative partnerships with their business counterparts and coworkers, exhibit transparency in communication, create order and clarity from ambiguity, model a bias for action, leverage data and fact-based analysis to drive decisions, and manage risk through innovation and creativity.
•They are skilled at multi-sourcing, vendor management, and team health and effectiveness.
•Communication – Ability to synthesize, simplify, and communicate concepts to drive informed business decision making
•Organization – Planning and accomplishing tasks in a structured manner; make sound decisions, prioritize and concentrate on the task to deliver high-quality, desirable results
•Critical thinking / decision making - Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the Hanover
•Team management / coaching - Management of direct reports and extended team to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness
•Responsible for designing and forming effective teams, balancing skills, individuals and project needs across multiple teams/projects and programs
•Models the way, and has extensive followership throughout the program based on his/her daily interactions within the Company
•May own and participates in developing strategic partnerships with Vendors and executes negotiations and contracts in partnership with vendor management and the PMO.
•Problem management - Assess service problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
•Has a solid understanding of external industry trends and key competitors and applies those capabilities while managing interactions and creating solutions in partnership with IT and business colleagues
•Responsible for internal operational throughput, quality and SLA metrics
•Partners with Delivery Lead and senior management to develop annual budget and is responsible for managing their budget within the cost centers they are directly responsible for.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
•Typically has 10 to 15 years of IT and business/industry work experience, with at least 7 years of leadership experience and 5+ years managing projects and/or project portfolios and/or leading IT operational areas.
•Should have in-depth knowledge of the technologies they are currently supporting and a proven willingness to stay knowledgeable about and introduce new technologies that would enhance our businesses.
•Has strong business partner relationship and vendor management skills.
