Under the direction of the Manager, the Claims Representative will need to research potential Death Matches as reported by Social Security Administration. In this position, the Claims Representative is expected to verify possible deaths and perform due diligence in accordance with the Regulatory Settlement Agreement in locating and contacting beneficiaries. Must possess and demonstrate ability to fact find and gather information, making appropriate decisions with a focus on accuracy. Additionally, the Claims Representative will be responsible for stretch assignments assigned by the Manager. This position requires a strong ability to grasp new concepts quickly and present the information with a strong level of confidence and professionalism. The Claims Representative will be required to attend classroom and online trainings specific to the claims process and assist with training of the staff.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop the skills to be responsible for the verification or non verification of potential deaths.
• Develop the skills necessary to verify that named decedents are insured by New York Life
• Prepare well written communications to beneficiaries / representatives, internal counsel.
• Must accurately update all information in claim's systems.
• Possess and demonstrate ability to assess the information gathered and make appropriate decisions.
• Exhibit research skills and utilize appropriate in house NYL systems ans well as TPA's
• Use good judgement and discretion when workong wih client private information.
• Review documents and information and make sound decisions based on knowledge, training and experience.
Qualifications
• Strong PC skills to include Word and Excel with the ability to navigate multiple applications during call handling
• Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment with attention to detail as individual will be multi-tasking navigation through numerous applications
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent years of related experience (High School diploma or GED required)
Shift Information
This is a full time Monday - Friday position. Candidates should be flexible to work any 7.5 hour shift between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Salary
Competitive full-time base hourly rate, overtime eligibility plus bonus target.
