Position Description Morgan Stanley seeks an Executive Director to run the Firm’s Risk Identification program. The Risk Identification program at Morgan Stanley monitors risk trends across all risk types and businesses and informs the Firm’s capital planning process. This role involves leading a central team in Firm Risk Management that works with business units and control groups across the Firm. In addition, regulatory submissions and responses prepared by the team are critical to the ability of the Firm to continue operations.
Qualifications
Primary job responsibilities include:
• Establish and implement standards for the Firm’s Risk Identification Framework
• Work with stakeholders across Lines of Business, Risk Management and Finance to develop, maintain and update the risk inventory
• Monitor risk trends across all risk types and businesses, recognize and review new or emerging risks and analyze linkages between risks
• Inform the Firm’s capital planning process by evaluating the Firm’s risk profile in the context of potential stress
• Coordinate ongoing enhancements to the Risk Identification Framework including improvements to underlying technology
• Manage governance of the risk identification process, including execution of review and challenge processes
• Produce documentation and presentations to effectively communicate key information to senior management and regulators
• Work with Risk, Capital and Finance teams on capital planning, scenario design and stress testing
• Ensure adherence to regulatory guidance and best practices

• Experience in a similar function or a risk management area at a financial services firm • Understanding of capital concepts
• Experience interacting with regulators preferred
