Prudential’s Workplace Solutions Group (WSG), which comprises Prudential’s Retirement and Group Insurance (GI) businesses, and serving over 23 million customers, has a Director of Product role supporting the Financial Wellness initiative. In this capacity, the successful candidate will perform numerous activities, primarily supporting senior-level leaders in the management, development and execution of work related to Financial Wellness. This role involves coordination and alignment of resources and deliverables within WSG, including the Group Insurance and Retirement Business Units (BUs), as well as other Corporate and Business partners.
The selected candidate will play a key role in enabling positive business outcomes and meeting customer expectations, as part of our mission to be an exemplary delivery organization. An ideal candidate should have experience working within a digital Product Management and Product Development organization. The candidate will be managing products and services offered through the Financial Wellness platform. Executing projects, combining business process and technology acumen will be a necessity for this role. This role requires expertise in navigating complex organizations, and the ability to quickly learn core business functions. This is a hands-on role and a successful candidate will be expected to be a strong driver of milestones and results, resolving issues, and consistently mitigating risks. While the technical aspects of the role (e.g., product roadmaps, governance structures, project plans, financial plans, risk plans, program-level plans, and associated reporting elements) are table stakes, a successful candidate is also expected to move the projects forward within acceptable cost and quality parameters.
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
• Provide product management oversight and, secondarily, back-up support to product development needs
• Serve as subject-matter expert / business owner for the development of business requirements for product enhancements and specifications
• Understand the competitive landscape and market trends of various financial industry products and product lines which include pricing, marketing approach and support; identifying gaps and implementing product enhancements to ensure the competitiveness of existing products
• Support the development of internal / external communication and training needs
• Effectively collaborate in a matrix environment both within the Product Management team and beyond to execute regular (likely quarterly) product enhancement initiatives
• Closely partner with Sales & Service to gain insight into operational and sales process challenges, identify potential actions and incorporate into product enhancement prioritization process
• Closely partner with Compliance, Law, & Risk in implementation of enhancements and new processes and regulatory requirements
• Manage large-scale programs, projects, and enhancements to Prudential digital platforms
• Responsible for the development of the business case and cost benefit analysis to secure funding for strategic digital projects and programs
• Work with UX designer, the Customer Experience, and Customer Office team to define online experience for product enhancements
• Track and report project results to management
• Collaborate with other Prudential businesses in order to identify new business opportunities, share best practices, and ultimately leverage opportunities.
Qualifications
• 8+ years of Product Management experience in an internet enabled business
• Proven experience in gathering and transforming customer / business needs into an actionable product roadmap, and product roadmaps into product requirements
• Experience using agile methodologies or iterative lifecycles to deliver products and technologies is a huge plus
• Understanding of customer transactions and communication, operational workflows, internet technologies, as well as development methodology for a complex multi-business environment
• Strong user experience / design sense, with a record of building succesful products
• Top-notch written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership, participating in the sales cycle, and handling sensitive customer escalations
• Well-developed leadership, management, and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to excite and lead others in a highly collaborative environment
• Experience in financial services companies is a plus
• Experience overseeing and delivering projects or project activities of moderate or significant complexity
• Experience working successfully with multiple key stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, schedule, and budget
• Proven ability to learn and adapt to change quickly and easily

• Experience with compiling, managing, and maintaining key documentation for project-related artifacts

• Proficient in using MS Office products: Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and / or other Project Management tools
• Ability to travel up to 15% (typically within the Northeast corridor)
