The Merchant Services – U.S. (MS – U.S.) team’s charter is to be warmly accepted and to help merchants grow. In support of this, the Industry Development team will focus on industry specific strategies for MS – U.S. to drive coverage and grow revenue. We are looking for a highly motivated, analytical and strategic individual to join the Franchise Development team in Industry Development. The Franchise Development team is responsible for creating actionable strategies aimed at strengthening the value proposition around acceptance in the Franchise segment with the goal of gaining parity, a top priority for GMS and the Blue Box. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a key initiative that is highly visible while also joining a fun, high-performing team and delivering significant results.
Specifically, the Senior Manager will own the strategy and execution plan to increase coverage and activation for a segment of merchants while partnering with key business partners (such as CLMs, Marketing, Pricing, and GCO).
The Senior Manager of Franchise Development, MS – U.S. will:
• Analyze and diagnose franchise acceptance gaps across the GCG and MS – U.S. Client Management organizations
• Identify barriers to warm acceptance and partner with GMS stakeholders to remove identified barriers
• Understand all merchant headquarter acceptance agreements and areas of influence
• Work with Pricing to determine franchise specific pricing approaches
• Partner with GMS Marketing to determine where marketing is needed with franchises to drive warm acceptance
• Partner with CLM to execute customized solutions with headquarters
• The role will require strong partnership across the MS – U.S. team as well as the Blue Box.
Qualifications
The candidate should be an experienced leader with a minimum of 5 years experience in strategy development, marketing, account development or business analytics and a proven track record for driving results.
The candidate should also be a leader with:
• Deep experience developing and executing winning strategies
• Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
• Results driven with the ability to work under pressure, navigate through ambiguity, draw linkages and balance multiple priorities
• Flexibility to pivot strategy and process according to business needs
• Change agent, not afraid to challenge the status quo
• Strong presentation skills – both in packaging and presenting ideas
• Understanding of the merchant and/or B2B business at American Express a plus
• MBA or equivalent experience recommended
