Job Purpose (Job Summary):
The Market Analyst is responsible for supporting the Global Market Strategy Office.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
• Support Chief Global Market Strategist in developing global market view.
• Support Global Market Strategists in developing regional investment views, including across and within asset classes.
• Monitor economic and market developments as directed and generate investment implications.
• Meet with Global Market Strategy Office on regular basis (and ad hoc as needed) to inform them of regional market and economic developments, research findings, and participate in formulating views.
• Liaise with investment teams and other non-GMS strategists regularly to understand their views/investment theses and to collaborate on research, models and investment theses with investment teams.
• Summarize important internal or expert research notes and calls for distribution.
• Creation of content (e.g. white papers, models, research notes and brief comments/Tweets)
• Maintain a library of slides and economic and market indicators. Work closely with team members and Marketing colleagues to create charts for use in slide decks and other materials. In particular, help produce a quarterly outlook slide deck.
• Work on the creation of possible economic/market models.
• Participate in the production of regular commentaries (including the annual 15c commentary), research notes, white papers, brief comments/Tweets and other pieces.
• Content will be both regularly scheduled and reactive, on an as needed basis.
• Respond to queries from sales team members.
• Present on conference calls for advisors and their clients on the economic and market outlook and related topics.
• Also may be called on to participate in presentations or other meetings with clients as requested.
• Help to customize strategist team materials for region and by client type (working with Marketing)
• Support the advocacy work of strategists by performing research and assisting in the writing of advocacy pieces.
Qualifications
Work Experience / Knowledge:
• Ability to generate insightful and relevant investment ideas backed by research.
• Familiarity with financial markets, market terminology, capital markets history and economic indicators, along with equity, fixed income, international, emerging markets, currency and alternative asset classes.
• Expertise with software such as Bloomberg, FactSet and Datastream.
Formal Education:(minimum requirement to perform job duties)
• Undergraduate degree in Finance or Economics. Graduate degree in Finance or Economics and/or CFA desirable.
