The Indirect Mortgage Manager (IMM) is responsible for the Bank’s correspondent and/or wholesale mortgage origination strategy, including top of line profitability, expense control, adherence to budget guidelines, broker and client management, recruiting, training, policy, procedure and day-to-day analytics of all Indirect Mortgage Originations both in market and in other identified outside markets.
Essential Job Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the overall profitability of the Indirect Mortgage Origination channel.
2. Works in tandem with the EVP, Mortgage Banking, to establish a budget and achieve target originations.
3. Develops and monitors key profitability and performance metrics.
4. Coordinates distinct Indirect Mortgage policies and procedures within existing divisional policies and procedures to the degree necessary in support of outbound calling efforts within this distinct line of business.
5. Works with Training Manager to conduct and coordinate continued mortgage industry training within the Indirect Mortgage line of business.
6. Develops reporting for line of business, including tools and dashboards for monitoring of individual broker or wholesaler performance.
7. Coordinates market pricing and product deliveries with Manager, Secondary Market.
8. Monitors performance of client brokers/wholesalers and provides oversight and assistance in day-to-day loan execution.
9. Works in tandem with Administration, Secondary Marketing and Operations for the effective on-boarding of new Broker/Wholesale clients.
10. Monitors and evaluates workflows and technology to improve efficiency of the Indirect Mortgage staff.
11. Conducts preliminary underwriting reviews for all loans submitted through this channel.
12. Works with EVP, Mortgage, to establish baseline Indirect Mortgage Agreements, contracts and performance standards and is responsible for oversight of existing and new potential client relationships.
13. Directly supervises the Indirect Mortgage support team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, and hiring designated support teams.
14. Works to ensure the department’s compliance with all banking laws, bank policies and federal regulations.
15. In tandem with the Mortgage Banking Exec, works to develop bank wide sales targets to be achieved in Indirect Mortgage Group. Responsible for all account opening and customer service related issues around auxiliary product development.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications
1. Must register and maintain current registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). The NMLS website (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.
2. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s degree or advanced training is preferred.
3. A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience is required. Experience managing an Indirect or Correspondent Mortgage Team is preferred.
4. Exceptional time management ability is critical, as are communication and organizational skills.
5. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally are required.
