Description
Under direction of experienced personnel, the Commercial Credit Trainee will be provided the opportunity and be expected to gain the knowledge and experience required for promotion to either a Relationship Management position or an Underwriting Support position. Additionally, the Commercial Credit Trainee provides support to senior analysts in the Underwriting Support (Commercial or Business Banking) department.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Learns various relationship management and credit underwriting functions, including relationship sales, financial analysis, management viewpoints and company policies and practices affecting each phase of commercial credit origination cycle..
• Rotates through related departments in order to train in specific functions and operations.
• Observes and practices sales process by participating with an experienced Relationship Manager on sales and service calls.
• Completes financial spreads and basic financial analysis on new loan requests, and renewals and annual reviews.
• Provides operational support, monitoring of credit relationships and a variety of clerical duties related to office activities.
• Obtains account relationship information, such as average balances and aggregate tie-in liability calculations.
• Assists in preparing loan approval documentation and credit analyses on existing or potential customers.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Learns and maintains an understanding of current procedures and policies, including the most recent regulatory compliance requirements and environment.
• Maintains working understanding of bank operations (payment processing, balancing, debits/credits, etc.) as they relate to loan originations, loan processing and credit administration.
• Maintains a current understanding of regulations including but not limited to Regulation B, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Regulation Z, Fair Lending, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Bank Secrecy Act (SAR reporting), OFAC, Information Security Guidelines, Identity Theft Red Flags, and Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or Agri Business or related field, required.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to utilize personal computers and Windows based programs.
• Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Ability and willingness to relocate preferred.
