Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an Associate to join our Capital Markets Clean Energy Solutions (CES) team in Chicago, IL. Members of this team will be responsible for project economics modeling, market research and ad hoc financial analysis for the implementation of renewable energy projects.
Job Responsibilities:
• Support CES transaction processes and day-to-day execution of specific assignments, including:
◦ Execution of due diligence processes
◦ Review of project documentation
◦ Review of third-party reports
◦ Prepare financial modeling and analysis:
# Accurately model project economics through developing and using JLL proprietary models
# Understand and review models of proposed financial structures
# Review proposed debt term sheets and model debt into project analyses
# Develop an understanding of models for contemplated tax equity financial structures
# Develop an understanding of relevant tax and accounting rules for projects domiciled in the United States, Canada, Mexico and other international jurisdictions
• Support and work with CES in the process of structuring, negotiating and closing project financing, including construction debt, term debt, equity and tax equity structures, and asset leases
• Create and maintain financial models in connection with new capital investments, M&A, project development, and related third party corporate and project financings
• Interface with private equity investor groups, project developers, capital providers/partners, commercial and investment banks, and prospective investors to drive key business decisions, market and structure deals, facilitate due diligence, and assist in closing documentation and asset management
Reporting Relationships & Interactions:
• Reports to the Executive Vice President, Clean Energy Solutions - Americas Capital Markets.
• Collaborates internally with Project Development Services, Technical Services, Corporate Solutions, Market Corporate Solutions, Tenant Representatives and other JLL teams relevant to Capital Markets.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree required
◦ Engineering and / or Finance graduates preferred
◦ Relevant renewable energy course work preferred
• Minimum 3 years of related experience; work experience in renewable energy a plus
• Extensive experience with financial modeling in Microsoft Excel
• Work experience in consulting, investment banking, or another transactional financial role
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to summarize complex issues and opportunities into succinct and actionable deliverables
• Solid understanding of project finance concepts
• Strong quantitative aptitude with ability to utilize complex financial models
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product
