Background on the Position
The role will reside within the Morgan Stanley Risk Data & Strategy (RD&S) team within the Firm Risk Management's (FRM) COO function. RD&S is responsible for the development of data standards, governance, and the monitoring of the Risk Data Domains to evidence compliance with Risk Data Policy and the BCBS 239 Principles. RD&S provides strategic partnership across Firm Risk to enhance Risk Data management. Additionally, the team is responsible for facilitating complex data issue investigation across a number of the risk domains, actively working on remediation and advising / providing input in the development of solutions for cross risk process efficiency. In partnership with the Enterprise Data Office, the team is responsible for creating and maintaining the Global Risk Data Policy, and for reviewing proposed country, legal entity or risk domain specific Risk Data policies or procedures to ensure congruency and alignment across the plant.
RD&S seeks a Vice President for a New York-based change management role. The selected candidate will engage in multiple change initiatives across RD&S and its key stakeholders across Risk, Technology, Finance and Operations, ensuring on-time delivery of agreed deliverables. They will develop and maintain the strategic program roadmap, and project plans and milestones for the various work streams. They will be responsible for key risks and issue identification, documentation, and timely stakeholder communications.
To be successful, candidates will benefit from relevant experience, such as project management and end to end process renovation. A strong desire to learn and the ability to both work independently in a small specialized team is essential. Superior oral and written communication skills will aid efforts to coordinate between many business and technology groups. Diligence, timeliness, and integrity are key qualities necessary for optimal performance in the role. The applicant should have a minimum of six years of experience at a financial institution or consulting firm, preferably in a risk, operations, compliance or regulatory function. Prior risk management experience in CCAR/DFAST, and /or model risk would be a strong plus.
The applicant should be interested in facilitating and designing process reengineering and management. Work history should demonstrate strong attention to detail, change program execution and project management skills and the ability to influence.
Primary job responsibilities expected to include:
• Identification of areas for improvement in process and data management
• Engaging risk coverage teams to identify and resolve risk data authority , sourcing and quality issues
• Liaising with data quality working groups across the Firm on pertinent issues
• Strategic project work; guidance of project working groups
• Reviewing and evaluating process and platform against regulatory standards
• Facilitating and coordinating the defining and documenting business requirements and functional specifications
• For managed projects, reporting status to stakeholders and management; escalating issues, risks and dependencies
• Senior management reporting and presentations
Qualifications
