Job Description
The Director of Appraisal Services is responsible to oversee the ordering, processing and review of appraisal reports. The administration of these functions results in constant interaction with 3rd party contractors, loan production staff, special asset staff, credit officers and corporate staff. This position is responsible for creating and administrating appraisal bank policy and procedures and insuring timely completion of creditble appraisal reports and managing a staff of co-ordinators and review appraisers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee the ordering and processing of commercial appraisal and appraisal review reports. Create and maintain weekly production reporting and performance metrics to assist with managing staff performance. Create goals and development plans for staff to support the team and facilitate growth.
• Create and maintain appraisal policies. Research and keep abreast of all new regulatory and agency requirements updating policy as required. Particpate in communication efforts, as required, to advise lending and credit staff of changes.
• Act as a liaision and intermediary between appraisers, review appraisers and loan production staff in order to maintain FIREEA firewall. This may include providing expertise regarding complex value issues to any of the above mentioned individuals. Tracks any occurrence of a 2nd appraisal documenting the reason for same. Tracks the number of appraisals that were accepted as originally submitted, revised, modified or rejected.
• Ensure the Bank's approved appraiser list consists of high quality and appropriate vendors. This includes assigning a geographic competency for each vendor based on a review of their credentials and experience. Maintains a rating system for all appraisers and review appraisers and reviews performance against the rating to insure the reports are of the highest quality required.
• May act as liaison with auditors and regulators for the Appraisal Services Department.
Requirements
• Bachelors in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar.
• 20+ years of commercial appraisal experience.
• Hold a General Appraisal License.
• Proficient in Argus and RIMS.
DESIRED
• MAI, AI-GRS designations, experience managing appraisers and review appraisers.
