Purpose of Job
We are currently seeking talented Portfolio Strategist I for our San Antonio, TX facility.
Independently, develops and recommends strategies for achieving investment goals of the organization. Forecasts market changes and monitors trends. Provide financial advisory services on developing investment strategies and/or asset allocation for USAA.
Job Requirements
• Applies advanced knowledge to analyze performance and structure of USAA institutional portfolios and presents analysis to portfolio investment committees.
• Assists with implementation of portfolio strategies.
• Monitors financial markets and economic trends and assesses impact on assigned portfolios.
• Applies advanced knowledge to develop changes to portfolio strategies, presents strategies to portfolio investment committees, and oversee implementation of changes to portfolios.
• Provides financial advisory services supporting treasury operations, asset /liability management and capital management functions.
• Performs complex work assignments and problem resolution.
• Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of a complex nature.
• Provides guidance and /or on the job training to less experienced coworkers.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field of study required; Four additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Four or more years of financial analysis experience required.
• Proficient knowledge of the function/discipline and demonstrated application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products required.
• Proficient level of business acumen in the areas of the business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.
• Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
• CFA designation
• Investment analysis and portfolio management experience
• Investment strategy including accounting classification, investment policy, asset allocation and risk/return optimization across investments and balance sheet metrics
• Ability to partner and collaborate extensively with internal stakeholders including finance, chief investment office, asset management, model risk management, market risk and compliance
• Ability to partner with external stakeholders possibly including banks or investment managers
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable presenting monthly to bank asset liability management committee
• Bank balance sheet management experience (regulatory capital, liquidity, income volatility and credit risk)
• Forecasting & planning at USAA (SFO, IPF areas)
• Proven ability to problem solve, generate ideas, influence others and gain buy-in across various levels of management
• Familiar with ALM, CECL, DFAST
