Position summary:
Our Finance department is seeking a Financial Data Analyst to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office.
The incumbent for this role will provide strong technical and analytical skills to streamline monthly close process within team via automation enhancements and will derive new ways to use big data. This role will also be responsible for 1) assisting with process improvements for planning and forecasting, 2) mining data out of financial, accounting and other corporate systems 3) utilizing both internal and external data to benchmark and understand trends
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Responsible for preparation of comprehensive, timely and accurate management reporting and analysis, isolating key drivers, quantifying impacts and connecting implications to the business integrating cross functional knowledge that ultimately allows business partners to improve performance:
◦ Take a lead role on the reporting and analysis strategy work streams to translate data into compelling and actionable insights
◦ Streamline and where possible automate monthly and quarterly close process to further improve efficiency of FP&A and Business CFO teams
◦ Perform liaison function between systems and Corporate FP&A teams
◦ Leverage Hyperion and other systems for consistent, concise, repeatable, insightful reporting and process
◦ Augment analytics through business and industry knowledge as well as organizational collaboration
• Drive ongoing process change in planning and forecasting to increase productivity for Finance and Business:
◦ Design planning parameters and implement financial modelling for short range and long-range planning
◦ Incorporate scenario analysis tools into the planning process
Position Requirements:
• This position will require a broad functional understanding of The Hanover’s systems, data architecture, data flow, and workflow to support , streamline and automate the company’s planning and reporting process
• Advanced analytical and financial model building skills. Demonstrates “best-in-class” organizational reporting standards and processes to maximize efficiency and meet strategic goals
• Understands and early adopter of emerging technology. Finance systems power user
• Possesses a deep knowledge of financial metrics, has a strong understanding of business operations; Contributes to creating vision and buy-in; applies financial concepts creatively in support of business goals
• Challenges business assumptions effectively to achieve improved insight allowing business partners to improve performance
• Adept in desktop applications and software tools with advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Intermediate programming skills is preferred, including the ability to develop and automate processes.
