Description
The individual will be a leader on the GAAP Valuation team within the Annuities Valuation Center of Excellence, which is responsible for reporting and analyzing the risks of the Annuities business. Key aspects of the individual's role include:
• Leading the valuation of Living Benefits guarantees and Fixed Indexed Annuities
• Reviewing attribution and sensitivity analysis for GAAP actuarial balances
• Enabling the team to provide insightful analytics to business partners
• Being a key contributor in high visibility projects
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to drive team members to develop their knowledge and capabilities and support a culture where team members become experts in the products and valuations techniques. It is a very dynamic team and its functions are critical to the success of Individual Annuities business.
The individual will manage a team of six actuaries / associates.
The individual’s responsibilities may include:
• Be accountable for monthly/quarterly Annuities GAAP reporting and analysis
• Manage team presentation of results to Annuities senior leaders
• Coordinate with Finance and Corporate Actuarial for GAAP-related deliverables
• Ensure proper direction of changes to the annuity actuarial modeling system, including structure of user acceptance testing
• Work closely with Actuarial Modeling team and IT business partners to ensure timely model production runs are performed
• Address requests from various corporate functions – Internal Audit, Risk Management, Treasurer, Portfolio Management, Chief Investment Office, etc.
• Be a key contact with Pricing and Product areas
• Drive improvement of analytical tools and processes
• Develop and support team members and manage project assignments within team
• Guide team in appropriate ad hoc research and development
Qualifications
• Must have FSA and at least 7 years of experience in the field of actuarial science
• Experience with valuation of deferred annuities strongly preferred
• Experience with multiple actuarial functions (e.g. valuation, forecasting, pricing, hedging, ALM) is a plus
• Familiarity with actuarial projections systems (e.g. GGY AXIS)
• Must be highly motivated, well organized, and detail oriented
• Ability to lead multiple projects and resolve conflicting priorities
• Prior experience leading a team
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to communicate actuarial results to senior management
• Strong technical skills (MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, etc.)
