Summary
The benefits administrator position is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations and administration of benefit plans (savings and spending accounts) for assigned clients. The benefits administrator also provides excellent customer service by interacting with clients and participants through phone calls and email, and makes recommendations for efficient administration of plans and provides analytical and subject matter support.
Essential Functions

1) Serve as primary assigned client contact for day-to-day service and administration of client benefit plans
2) Acquire and maintain knowledge of general health benefits, insurance carrier, company terminology and processes, especially for plans specific to assigned clients
3) Properly organize, process and maintain client plan records, files and forms, and related information
4) Perform and provide account balancing and related report generating and guidance
5) Prepare and send timely responses and documentation to participants, clients, and/or designated contacts within established guidelines
6) Troubleshoot and document concerns and issues from participants and clients
7) Comply with plan document provisions, regulations, guidelines, and company procedures
8) Assist clients or other designated contacts with trouble-shooting, concerns or questions via phone or email
9) Maintain confidentiality and keep department, client and participant HIPAA compliant
10) Maintain relationships through answering phone calls and emails from clients in a friendly, courteous, professional and timely manner
11) Educate clients on up-to-date industry regulations and processes
12) Provide department support and team assistance as needed

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role however some filing may be required. This would be the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending as necessary.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position, other than occasional client or prospect visits.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, and further applicable education or equivalent experience.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction and decimals
Ability to read workplace rules and procedures, speak with poise and confidence, using correct English
Technical aptitude, and ability and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel, software and computer applications
Knowledge of and proficiency with tax-advantaged accounts and benefit plans, insurance, and/or claims.
Six months or longer prior work experience in an office environment
Excellent communication and organization skills
Preferred Education and Experience
Two plus years prior work experience with tax-advantaged accounts and benefit plans, other employee benefits administration, insurance plans and/or payments preferred
Advanced proficiency preferred with Excel and database applications including formatting and formulas
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field
