Job Description
As a part of Discover Business Technology (BT) mission of Enterprise Insight Platforms (EIP) team is to Enable Human Insights and Machine Intelligence. EIP is composed of four core functional areas with different roles:
• Business Engagement:Engagewith stakeholders to translate needs into requirements balancing value & capabilities
• Strategy & Optimization: Formulating and socializing EIP strategy and optimizing performance of EIP organization
• Platforms and Capabilities: Build reliable scalable and usable analytics platforms & capabilities
• Information Management & Governance: Ensure timely availability of reliable usable information compliant with regulations & Discover values
Responsibilities:
• As a key member of the Senior Leadership team at EIP with overall responsibility to help ensure strategic imperatives across IT are defined and executed
• Establishes overall vision and creates a culture of practical execution that treats data as an asset and effectively translates strategy into well-developed execution plans to balance need for competitive advantage with solid operational capabilities
• Establishes clear and practical data practices for project implementations that drives a standardized approach to data intake and processing while supporting flexibility of businesses
• Manages Data Management, Big Data and cloud migration program, define enterprise data assets and embed the standards into the overall architecture of the company
• In close partnership with key business and technology stakeholders, establishes a process for identifying new types of data to drive business insights and incorporate the data assets into the overall data architecture.
• Create policies and controls for the appropriate protection of enterprise information assets through a defined life cycle from acquisition or creation to end of life destruction and disposal procedures.
• Establish and Chair the Data Governance Steering Committee which; approves data policies, sets corporate and strategic vision for Data Governance, defines Data Governance strategy, sanctions strategic data policies, communicates data policies to business and IT stakeholders, assists with resolving corporate-wide critical data issues, provides Data Governance oversight, ensures enterprise alignment with Data Governance and Data Strategy, determines data project prioritization & funding, provides data domain sponsorship, provides conflict resolution
• Managing a team of ~200 professionals
• Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
Skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
• 10+ years of experience in a functional technology, data management and thought leadership role in a leading firm in data or technology capacity
• Strong quantitative, analytic, technical and cloud skills. Understanding of modern technology landscape – cloud, mobile, IoT and how to create data driven organizations
• Open and frequent communicator at all levels of the organization with a genuine sensitivity and commitment to the development needs of the organization
• Strong leadership, influencing, and relationship skills with proven track record at all levels within an organization role model for owning the outcome
• A true self-starter with strong conflict resolution and self-determined decision-maker that can quickly and independently assesses business requirements and become a trusted and integral part of the senior leadership team
• Effective at integrating customers, data teams and engineers in such a way that drives excitement, innovation, continuous improvement and significantly improves performance
• Deep understanding of key tools used in governing/managing data quality including meta-data management and data stewardship
• Strong experience in process re-engineering, hands-on operational management and change management. Proven track record in driving large data governance programs at an enterprise level
• Demonstrated leader capable of partnering / driving business and technology colleagues in establishing a highly functioning governance program
• Demonstrated ability to engage senior business leaders in establishing ownership/accountability, securing funding and committing resources to resolve chronic quality issues
• Experienced in building data and analytical strategies leveraging broad types of data to deliver deep business insights and drive performance
