Description
The Data Governance Director reports to the Chief Data Officer and is responsible for assisting in defining and implementing enterprise (across US entities) data management strategies, vision and management processes to effectively govern the bank's enterprise data including the establishment of enterprise data governance, operating model, data policies and standards as well as the implementation of clearly defined data management definitions for use across the bank.
The Data Governance Director will manage a group/teams of managers and analysts as necessary to accomplish defined accountabilities. In addition, he/she will have a key role managing various stakeholders across the organization to achieve the goals defined in the enterprise data management strategy.
The Data Governance Director will also be charged with oversight and ensuring that standardized data governance "tools" including data requirements documents, data lineage work flows, metadata forms, data models, etc. are used across the bank by all relevant stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement EDM framework, policy and standards
• Administer Data Governance Forums
• Implement Vendor Management Requirements
• Policy, framework and standards escalations and exception management
• Communication Plan and Strategy
• Training (CDO School)
• Regulatory review & monitoring
• Oversee the Annual Data Strategy and Plan
• Monitor program / project delivery
• Manage the program portfolio level plan, performance metrics, risks and issues
• Manage program communications
• Facilitate program assurance review processes
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Information Systems
• MBA or other related graduate level degree desirable
• Between 7 - 10 years
• Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies
• Demonstrated success in leadership role and vision
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills
• Experience with all facets of data management including data architecture and modeling, data quality, data warehousing, business intelligence, and metadata management
• Exposure to tools used to support data management specifically business glossary and metadata management, data profiling and data quality
• Extensive experience in establishing and successfully leading Data Governance programs: heavy emphasis on developing and implementing data standards, policies, practices, and procedures that lead to substantive improvements in data integrity
• Proven ability to coordinate cross functional teams of IT professionals, business executives, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify quantify and effectively raise business risks associated with data quality
• Strong leadership experience
