When clients need capital, Global Capital Markets (GCM) responds with market judgments and ingenuity. Whether executing an IPO, a debt offering or a leveraged buyout, GCM integrates Morgan Stanley’s expertise in Sales and Trading and Investment Banking, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. GCM originates, structures and executes public and private placement of equities, investment-grade and noninvestment-grade debt and related products. The group provides fresh ideas and broad distribution to help clients get the most out of each stage of a transaction, and continually develops capital markets solutions to enable clients to mitigate strategic, operational, credit and market risks.
Position Description
GCM Strats in New York Office, which provide revenue-generating activities centered on financial analytics, are looking for a highly talented and motivated data solution architect with 6+ years of experience. The candidate will develop, maintain and enhance data-driven analytics and platforms that identify and analyze business opportunities across capital market and lending business.
Qualifications
• An ability to partner with fellow strats, internal clients, and external parties such as IT and vendors to quickly grasp business requirements and respond to economic, market and corporate events with agility. Good understanding of capital market and lending business is a plus.
• An ability to tackle open-ended problems. High level of emotional intelligence, a lot of abstract reasoning and sound judgment are required to successfully develop and deploy solutions in GCM.
• 6+ years of experience in implementing data-driven solutions such as automated screening systems, browser-based analytics, and predictive tools in Unix/Linux and Windows, as both an individual contributor and a collaborator. The applicant should have expert knowledge in at least two of the following fields but ideally in all the fields: the front-end development (i.e. in Java, CSS and HTML), data analysis and statistical model development (i.e. in Python and R) and back-end development (i.e. in SQL/RDBMS, q/kdb+, cloud).
• Large-scale data modeling experience using a variety of data sets (market/fundamental, text/numerical, analogue/digital, structured/unstructured etc.) SQL and database fluency are essential, and good understanding of Q/KDB+ is a plus.
• A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline with at least 6 years of related experience. An advanced degree in the field of a related discipline such as computer science and statistics is preferred but not required.
