Role Value Proposition:
The Director, Risk Management will support strategy and planning for the Global Risk Management (GRM) organization, under the Office of Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer and reporting to the Chief of Staff. This individual will be focused on execution of special projects to deliver the GRM vision and goals, along with support risk governance, Executive Group, and Board processes to manage critical communications. This role will involve significant interaction with corporate, regional and local peers within GRM and across Finance, Global Strategy, Investments, and other functions and businesses to work on various initiatives and provide risk input across processes. This individual will also be interfacing with senior leadership to drive the success of important initiatives.
The position is responsible for supporting strategic planning and development within Global Risk Management, by executing work on projects that are run by the Office of Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. This position will report to the Chief of Staff and work closely with the GRM Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute and implement special projects to achieve Global Risk Management objectives
◦ Leverage analytical thinking to derive insights, including preparing, reviewing and analyzing various finance, risk and actuarial items as needed
◦ Drive recommendation and convergence across diverse internal teams and/or external partners across the organization
◦ Prepare and implement action plans against improvement initiatives
◦ Prepare materials for communications with senior leadership
• Ensure Global Risk Management readiness, for sessions with/for the Executive Group, Business Reviews, or similar strategic senior leadership sessions, in addition to the Board of Directors (in consultation with the Corporate Secretary)
• Facilitate and plan Enterprise-wide initiatives: Drive key initiatives, acting as Champion and Change Agent representing Global Risk Management, including People Survey, Customer Centricity, and MetLife Way
• Facilitate and plan staff meetings: Organize and participate in the Chief Risk Officer’s Senior Leadership Team Meetings including, but not limited to, Town Halls, Off-site Meetings and meetings with Chief Risk Officer’s direct reports
• Demonstrates strong influencing, communication, writing and facilitation skills, including ability to build relationships, resolve issues, and seek consensus among diverse groups of stakeholders
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
• Strong record of success in leading and implementing change initiatives
• Experience in navigating complex situations and seeking consensus from a diverse group of stakeholders
• At least 5 years of experience working with financial services institutions (insurance preferred)
• Analytical skill-set, ability to construct basic financial models, and synthesize insights when presented with analytical results
Preferred:
• Prior experience working in risk, finance, actuarial and/or consulting
