Position Function:
This position will report to the Default Accounting Manager and is responsible for default servicing accounting activities including servicing advances, default servicing (Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Loss Mitigation, etc.) curtailments, contingent liabilities, reserves and related activities, ensuring general ledger balances are accurate and complete. Functional duties include data compilation and calculation of risk, research of variances, particularly as it relates to assigned general ledger accounts, preparation of journal entries throughout the month and over month-end close, and compilation and validation of financial schedules and reporting as it relates to responsibilities. Individual will support key control procedures and documentation for risk assessment and calculation as well as support key controls and completion of various audit requests and control documentation.
This role will collaborate with the Controller’s team and various departments, including Investor Reporting, Default Servicing teams (bankruptcy, foreclosure, loss mitigation, etc), Treasury and IT. Position will have opportunities to train and mentor others. Candidate must be able to work to meet tight deadlines and adapt in a changing environment.
Position Responsibilities:
• Utilize systems to compile information required for calculation, analysis and reporting on high volume default servicing activity.
• Prepare monthly analytics relative to prior periods, business plan and forecast including consideration key business drivers
• Complete key monthly close entries related to servicing advance accounts in alignment with a 5 day month end close cycle
• Prepare GAAP and cash based financial reporting for controllership and business management
• Analyze data and build/identify reporting to help mitigate risk and enhance business opportunities
• Complete account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts
• Assist in preparation of supporting schedules for quarterly earnings releases and presentations
• Assist in preparation of quarterly/annual supporting documentation for footnote disclosures
• Assist in preparation for external quarterly reviews and year-end audit
• Special projects and ad hoc reporting requests as assigned
Selection Criteria:
• 4 year college degree in Accounting/Finance
• 4+ years Accounting or Finance experience, CPA preferred
• In-depth knowledge of accounting systems, processing and controls, including SOX
• Passion for partnering with business and collaborating with other finance team members
• Financial reporting experience, including balance sheet, cash flows, and income statements
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organization skills and attention to details
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Excellent technical skills, with strong focus on MS Excel and Access, SQL knowledge a plus
