At CoBank, the SVP Data Strategy is responsible for CoBank’s enterprise-wide data and information strategy, governance, controls and policy development. Collaborates with key stakeholders to optimize data quality, ensure data protection and privacy and leverage data assets to drive business value. Key stakeholder groups include relationship management, credit, operations, finance, risk management, human resources, information technology, information security, compliance and internal audit. Contributes to overall bank management through participation in the development of strategic and operating objectives and plans. Coaches, counsels and develops staff resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Establishes a data governance framework to manage the quality, consistency, availability and usage of data across the enterprise.
• Creates processes for data quality issue management and resolution.
• Advances data management and business analytics capabilities.
• Directs the Data Strategy function in the development of new services and delivery systems.
• Works collaboratively to identify technologies and capabilities to master data and optimize data integration, storage and retrieval processes, including the elimination of redundant and non-value-add data systems.
• Develops and oversees the implementation of bank-wide data management strategies and activities through the development of short- and long-range goals and objectives. Ensures effective operating controls are established to assure compliance.
• Maintains current knowledge of data strategy best practices, technology, products, and services to ensure that CoBank’s offerings remain competitive and value-added.
• Manages staff. Sets performance standards, manages workflow, evaluates performance, and recommends personnel actions within delegated authorities. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems or other relevant discipline.
• Fifteen (15) or more years of proven experience in strategic information management roles.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Expertise driving business outcomes by identifying and operationalizing data, and building out, articulating and delivering on business cases around data use and/or data-centric business strategy.
• Experience in the banking/financial services industry.
• Experience with strategic data architecture, information systems and visualization techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate data strategies and programs across multiple functions.
• Ability to craft multi-year roadmap and achieve specific time-bound objectives within that plan.
• Technical expertise, including experience with and exposure to data management technology, innovation and best practices.
• Proven ability to collaborate across functional groups and serve as a respected member of the senior leadership team.
• Proven ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical, strategic, project management, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational, management, administration and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of and commitment to CoBank’s mission and core values.
