Responsibilities
The Business Development Officer is responsible for developing new business relationships within the NorthEast with a primary focus on Life Sciences Banking. The position is responsible for attaining established individual, division and corporate goals through active participation in sales management and officer call programs.
Essential Duties:
• Source prospects and develop new customer relationships with Life Sciences companies.
• Analyze creditworthiness, structure and negotiate loan transactions, prepare loan proposals, and present credits to the loan committee for approval
• With assistance of credit analysts, prepare credit write-ups which are complete and adhere to Bank standards
• Maintain an effective calling program on customers, prospects and referral sources
• Identify cross-sell opportunities and make appropriate referrals
• Complete understanding of internal Bank departments/process in order to complete banking functions
• Accept special projects in support of the team and community involvement
• Accountable for developing and administering plans to meet budget goals and performance standards set by management.
• Works with colleagues to analyze credit worthiness, structures and negotiates loan transactions, prepares loan proposals and assists in presenting credits to the loan committee for approval.
• Consistently applies good decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures.
• Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business; actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment through education of the Bank’s products and services.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
• 5-7 + years Banking/Accounting/Finance experience required with emphasis on technology/Life Sciences lending and commercial banking
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from a four (4) year college or university
• Understand and follow BSA/AML/OFAC policy and procedures as applicable to job function and promptly report suspicious activity when identified
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with particular skills in Excel, ITI, One Point, etc
• Minimum of BS/BA in Business, Finance, Accounting or comparable degree
Required Skills:
• Clear understanding of financial statement analysis and strong accounting skills
• Ability to make daily credit decisions
• Strong credit authorization skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, negotiating and problem solving skills
• Previous relationship management and business development/sales skills are required
• Understand loan documentation including funding requests, Business Finance Agreements, UCC perfection, etc.
• Excellent client service skills
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
