Position Description Overview
First Data Digital Advisors works in partnership within First Data product portfolios and externally with clients in an advisory capacity to develop and/or enhance digital and mobile based recommendations/solutions to drive strategic objectives including product strategy, revenue growth, and cost rationalization. Internal to First Data, the Advisory group works in partnership with existing product owners to identify opportunities and/or threats in the digital domain. The work product could include classic strategic planning, product strategy, to go to market, etc. all the way through to technical re-architecture based on industry best practices and benchmarking. In all cases, the Advisor’s measure of success is the quantification of the recommended impact in terms of revenue, cost, client satisfaction, scalability, etc. External to First Data, the Advisory group works in partnership with existing clients to assist in the development and/or refinement of the client’s digital strategy. The work product is similar to the work conducted internally with product owners but with a bias toward thoroughly understanding and matching client needs with First Data products and services.
Job Responsibilities
• Specific responsibilities include: Internal Conducting analysis and forming recommendations in partnership product owner(s) on business and/or technical aspects including but not limited to product/market strategy, product roadmap, build/buy/partner, go to market, technical architecture, optimization including refactoring, vendor selection, best in class digital delivery modes. External Conducting analysis and forming recommendations in partnership clients to either create and/or refine their digital strategy. Business and/or technical aspects include but are not limited to needs assessment, gap analysis, product/market strategy, product roadmap, go to market, recommended technical product/solution, best practices in digital delivery modes. If no product/service exists in the current portfolio then ownership or sponsorship of new product development.
Scope of Job
Decisions have major impact on the end result of the business unit. Frequent contact with internal and external customers.
Autonomy
Performs duties under minimal supervision, escalating the most serious issues to senior management. May supervise Product Analysts.
Job Requirements
• Minimum Qualifications: • Demonstrated results in digital product management and/or strategy consulting in the financial technology or merchant industry. • Specific experience in migrating legacy products and services through to digital marketplace; particular emphasis on experience omni-channel engagements • 10+ years of product management or consulting experience • 5+ years of industry experience in banking, payments, retail merchants, online merchants, e-commerce/m-commerce, etc. Additional Preferred Skill Requirements: • Understanding of First Data’s core businesses (how we operate & go to market) • Understanding of the industry landscape, e.g. opportunities and challenges in digital domain (clients, trends and best practices in digital) • Ability to work on a team, integrating with the client account team, the product teams and other diverse organizations • Great communication skills both at a working level and at the executive level • Ability to travel extensively within the United States and possibly internationally
