Business Overview:
The North America Audit Hub is part of BNP Paribas’ global Internal Audit group (Inspection Générale or “IG”) which is staffed with highly qualified individuals who perform high quality risk-based reviews to provide reasonable assurance to Audit Committee and Senior Management on the adequacy of the Governance, Risk Management and Control framework and recommend corresponding improvements. The function reports directly to the Board Audit Committee and is integrated with BNP Paribas Global Internal Audit.
Inspection Générale - New York Hub (Internal Audit) is looking for a Director level member of the Market Activities audit team, predominantly responsible for the audit coverage of Global Markets front to back.
Responsibilities:
The qualified candidate will play an active role in the Internal Audit team, leading or bringing subject matter expertise to risk-based audit reviews and recommending solutions to identified issues and problems within the organization. The candidate will management responsibility over 3-4 team members at Assistant Vice President and Vice President levels and will report to the Head of IG North America Market Activities. The successful candidate will join a team of high caliber professionals with very diverse backgrounds and will get exposure to a full range of Capital Markets Products and Services.
In addition to on the job training, each team member receives up to 10 days of internal and external training every year and funding for professional qualifications. The candidate will be responsible for:
• Partnering with other audit teams, predominantly in the U.S, as well as LatAmand across the global Markets & Models Audit Line to achieve comprehensive, consistent and coordinated coverage of risks and controls relative to Capital Markets
• Contributing to the development, direction and execution of the Department's U.S. annual audit plan relative to Capital Markets
• Performing risk assessments and continuous monitoring over U.S. audit units relative to Capital Markets
• Managing and developing less senior members of the team
• Documenting audit findings and recommendations in a clear and concise format in line with internal standards
• Leveraging data analytics in support of risk assessment and audit design & execution
• Following-up on Internal Audit and Regulatory findings with clients through to completion
• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key executives in business areas and corporate functions in order to facilitate the execution of the audit plan and the sharing of observations, information and ideas
• Monitoring issues and trends throughout the year with the goal of developing and communicating a view as to the design and effectiveness of the processes and controls as well as emerging risks and concerns
• Helping manage the relationship with supervisory bodies, including Federal Reserve Bank, Department of Financial Services as well as the Self-Regulatory Organizations
• Remaining current with industry views, prevailing practices and regulatory requirements on complex financial institutions so as to adapt the audit methodology and approach as appropriate
Developing focused methodologies and analyses for use in covering relevant risks across the entire audit universe
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• 12+ years of professional experience
• 10+ years market risk knowledge as a practitioner or strong market risk related control function (e.g. risk or valuation) with experience across all areas of market risk; with a preference for those with at least five years auditing capital markets or risk management in a bank or broker / dealer regulated environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with models either related to valuations, stress testing or RWA a plus
• Advanced degree (Masters preferred) in a business discipline; finance or financial engineering a plus
• CFA, FRM, CQF or CPA qualifications a plus
• A strong understanding of the regulatory environment with respect to the Federal Reserve Bank, FINRA, and SEC
• Proficient understanding of internal audit processes including identifying and evaluating key risks, setting the audit scope, developing audit testing, and managing staff assignments
• A team player that supports the broader audit functions by leveraging their knowledge to the best use of the Firm
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and writing skills
• Prior experience communicating with Regulators is a strong plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to provide clear and comprehensive written and verbal presentations
• Ability to: 1) Work in high pressure environments under tight deadlines and 2) Communicate complicated business and technical ideas clearly and visually to senior management and other stakeholders
