Ally is currently looking for a Learning and Development Specialist to join our Insurance department in downtown Detroit. This is an exciting role that will have ownership of the entire L&D process.
Position Description
In this role, you will manage, design, and develop training projects and deliverables, maintain and improve existing L&D tools and programs to increase organizational effectiveness and contribute to a learning organization. Work is conducted both independently and in collaboration with others, under the direction of the respective manager. Can you engage a training class of diverse personalities, design and deliver an instructor led or virtual class, and demonstrate creativity and skill in improving learning tools and programs? Job Responsibilities
• Works on projects of varying scope, using adult learning theories to develop and design solutions. Able to align learning to business strategies. Manages multiple projects through project plans and prioritization. Provides periodic progress reports on assignments to key stakeholders within established timelines.
• Proficiently design, develop, deliver, and evaluate learning content using accepted content development approaches for large scale projects and deliverables. Evaluates course effectiveness through end of course evaluations, participant comprehension, and operational metrics, making necessary content revisions.
• Demonstrates creativity and skill in developing projects and programs, utilizing a variety of training methodologies.
• Individual Contributor; however, may periodically manage others (e.g. team of new hires, class participants, etc.). Demonstrates influence at a local or multi-site level by attending business unit meetings and/or providing support to leadership.
• Prepares training status reports, exhibits, memoranda, and training desk procedures as required. Use the Learning Management System to update employee training histories.
• Occasional travel in the US and Canada may be required.
• Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate / Bachelor's degree in business related discipline preferred. 4 + years in customer service, automotive, or financial services industry is needed. Prior leadership experience is preferred. Project management experience preferred. Education may be used as a proxy for experience.
• Understanding of operational policies, procedures, and specific job functions at the local level is preferred.
• Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, with learning technologies or software a plus.
*Experience working on and delivering technical traning (systems) is preferred.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills, editing experience preferred.
• Ability to collaborate across the organization with varying levels of leadership.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently, be self-directed, apply analytical skills, and think creatively and critically.
