Job Title: Real Estate, Finance, Vice President/Senior Vice President
Job Description:
The Vice President / Senior Vice President will advise on real estate equity and debt fund formation for domestic and international funds, joint ventures and transactions for various Blackstone real estate funds.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Advise acquisition team on a real-time basis with respect to tax issues, and feasibility of various real estate equity and debt investments.
• Understand relevant tax considerations for investing in debt investments, loan originations, secondary obligation acquisitions, debt securities, as well as RICs.
• Support asset management with ongoing operational tax issues.
• Understand UBTI, FIRPTA, ECI, state and local considerations in structuring investments for REITs and partnerships.
• Interact with investors, colleagues and senior management.
• Meet with prospective investors regarding tax considerations in connection with raising new real estate equity and debt funds.
• Monitor emerging tax issues / proposed legislation that can impact real estate funds.
• Interact with finance to ensure proper implementation and recording of all investments and structures.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors as well as:
• 10+ years of Big 4 or law firm tax experience
• Graduate degree or JD/LLM preferred
• Experience in the alternative asset management industry (real estate or investment partnership preferred)
• Extensive knowledge in REIT and partnership taxation required
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data to drive decision-making
• Effective verbal and written communicator
• Highly organized and proactive
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic culture
• Personal and professional integrity of the highest order
• Strong work ethic, responsiveness and passion for customer service and quality
