The Lead Actuary is a critical position within the Actuarial Valuation department which is responsible for Variable Annuity, Fixed Annuity and Payout Statutory Valuation. Responsibilities include:
• Production manager for regular monthly/quarterly valuation for Annuity Products; ensure monthly and quarterly Annuity valuation deliverables are met in a timely and accurate fashion
• Prepare analysis and facilitate the communication of valuation results
• Ownership of SOX/MAR processes for the Annuity quarterly Valuation; review, maintain, and enhance
• Ownership of year-end Statutory financial reporting processes
• Participate in the creation of the Actuarial Opinion Memorandum
• Ownership of Rating agency surveys
• Participate in the Cash Flow Testing process and communication of the results to the board
• Front-line interface towards transformation of Actuarial processes to significantly modernize, enhance and improve valuation processes
• Possibly manage 1-2 actuarial students
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors degree
• FSA with 2+ years of experience is ideal. A recent FSA with right experience will also be considered.
• Annuity Valuation experience highly preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate results to management
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Ability to work independently among a team across different locations
• Ability to foster good working relationships with business partners and team members
• Excellent judgment and ability to grasp complex subject matters and communicate succinctly to non-technical experts
• Good Microsoft Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
